About Colonial Dog Training
At Colonial Dog Training, we believe that every dog has the potential to become a well-mannered, confident companion with the right guidance, structure, and communication. Our mission is simple: help dogs and their owners build stronger relationships through practical, real-world training that creates lasting results.
Since our founding in 2012, Colonial Dog Training has helped families throughout Boston and Eastern Massachusetts overcome everything from basic obedience challenges to more serious behavior issues. Whether you’re raising a new puppy, struggling with leash pulling, dealing with reactivity, or simply looking for a better-behaved family dog, our team is committed to helping you achieve your goals.
In Spring 2026, Colonial Dog Training entered an exciting new chapter under the ownership of Tom Porier, one of New England’s most experienced and respected professional dog trainers. With more than 13 years of experience working with dogs of all breeds, ages, and temperaments, Tom has built a reputation for delivering practical training solutions that work in the real world—not just in a classroom.
Under Tom’s leadership, Colonial Dog Training continues its commitment to personalized, in-home dog training while expanding the resources, expertise, and support available to clients throughout the region. Our focus remains on creating customized training plans that fit each dog’s unique needs and each family’s lifestyle.
Unlike one-size-fits-all approaches, we believe training should happen where behavior matters most: at home, in your neighborhood, and in the environments you visit every day. That’s why our programs are designed to help dogs learn reliable obedience and good manners around the distractions they encounter in real life.
